The short film Room, written and directed by Elham Mohammadzadeh, has won the Second Prize for Best Film at the 16th United for Peace International Film Festival (UFPFF) in Japan.
According to the news agency of the Cinema Museum of Iran, the short film Room, written and directed by Elham Mohammadzadeh and produced by Mohammadzadeh in collaboration with the Kashan office of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society, received the Second Prize for Best Film at the 16th edition of the United for Peace International Film Festival in Japan.
The United for Peace Film Festival (UFPFF) is held annually around the International Day of Peace. The festival seeks to encourage action toward building a peaceful world free from war and conflict through the power of visual media—a universal language shared by people around the world.
The 16th edition of the festival was held in Tokyo on September 20, 2026 (September 29, 1405 in the Iranian calendar).
Room had previously been selected for the 15th One Shot Film Festival in Spain, the 10th Pakistan Women’s Film Festival, and the Istanbul Women’s Film Festival. At domestic festivals in Iran, the film won the Best Film Award from the Secretary of the 4th Gamberon National Festival and received a trophy, certificate, and cash prize at the 2nd 25 National Festival.
The film’s synopsis reads: “A mother is combing her young daughter’s hair when suddenly the sound of an explosion is heard…”
