A delegation from Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council visited the Iranian Cinema Museum as part of efforts to expand cultural and cinematic cooperation between Iran and Türkiye. During the visit, the delegation met with Fatemeh Mohammadi Seijani, Director General of the Museum, to discuss opportunities for joint activities in cinema, research, education, and co-production.

The Turkish delegation toured the museum’s various sections and explored its collection of historical artifacts, documents, equipment, books, and film scripts. They were also introduced to the history of cinema in Iran and the development of cinematic technology in the country.

Fiza Gizli, Head of the Strategic Development Department of Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council, expressed her interest in Iranian cinema and highlighted the importance of expanding cultural, academic, and documentary cooperation between the two countries. She described the Iranian Cinema Museum as a comprehensive institution and expressed hope for stronger cooperation with Turkish universities.

Fatemeh Mohammadi outlined the museum’s activities in preservation, research, and education, emphasizing its readiness to establish cooperation with cinema universities in Türkiye. The participants discussed several potential areas of collaboration, including film-analysis sessions for students, student exchanges, research projects, educational programs, co-productions, and the exchange of experience in media policy and content regulation.

The establishment of a “Kiarostami School” was also proposed as a potential educational and cultural initiative. The Turkish delegation praised the international standing of Iranian cinema and described the Iranian school of cinema as an important cinematic tradition.

Mohammadi also proposed exploring a joint film project among ECO member states, inspired by similar cultural initiatives involving members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Such a project, she noted, could promote cooperation among filmmakers while highlighting the cultural and artistic capacities of ECO member countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized their readiness to expand cultural, cinematic, research, and educational cooperation and expressed hope that continued engagement would lead to joint projects and further exchanges between Iranian and Turkish cinematic and academic institutions.
