“Oscar” Wins Best Short Film at the Madani International Film Festival

The short film Oscar has been awarded Best Short Film in the Short Film Competition at the 8th Madani International Film Festival (MIFF 2025).

The film Oscar, written and directed by Ali Asghari and produced by Seyed Mehdi Ghaemmagham, received the top prize at this year’s festival, held in Jakarta, Indonesia. MIFF is considered one of Asia’s notable independent film events, spotlighting works with strong humanistic and cultural themes.

Established to support independent filmmakers and foster intercultural dialogue, the Madani festival annually showcases selected films from around the world.

Oscar features performances by Amir Karbalaeezadeh, Parisa Alizadeh, Saba Khorasani, Reza Sokhaeefard, Neda Hosseini, Mohammad Nouhian, Amirhossein Gholich, and Hossein Abbaspour. Its logline reads: “I have to act in this film because it’s the one that’s going to save my life.”
