"Abi and Rabi" is the first Iranian feature-length silent narrative film, directed by the pioneering filmmaker Avanes Ohanian. Released on Friday, January 2, 1929, it premiered at Mayak Cinema in Tehran, marking a milestone in the emergence of Iranian narrative cinema.

The film is a comedic tale following the misadventures of two men of contrasting heights—Abi and Rabi—whose playful antics and situational humor offer an early example of cinematic storytelling in Iran. Unfortunately, the only surviving copy of the film was lost in a fire at the Mayak Cinema.

The displayed image is the original poster of Abi va Rabi, providing a rare visual link to Iran’s silent film era and reflecting the early promotion of narrative cinema in the country.
