“K-Popper” Heads Toward Gandhi Medal Competition

Ebrahim Amini’s feature film “K-Popper” has been selected for Tallinn Black Nights FF and the UNESCO Gandhi Medal competition at the International Film Festival of India (Goa).

The feature film “K-Popper”, directed by Ebrahim Amini and produced by Sajjad Nasrollahinazab, has been selected to participate in the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the UNESCO Gandhi Medal competition at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

According to the Cinema Museum of Iran News Agency, K-Popper will soon appear in the Just Film section of the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia. Black Nights is one of the world’s prestigious A-category film festivals, running from November 6 to 20.

In addition, K-Popper has entered the UNESCO competitive section for the Gandhi Medal at the 56th International Film Festival of India. This category honors films that promote messages of peace, tolerance, and human solidarity. The Goa festival will take place from November 19 to 27 in India.

K-Popper has previously shone at festivals such as Kazan, where it won three major awards: Best Director, Best Actress, and the NETPAC Prize. It also received a Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia Film Festival in Kazakhstan.

The film follows Maedeh, a 16-year-old girl from Shiraz, who becomes infatuated with a Korean pop singer and decides to travel to Seoul to pursue her dream.

Honar Haftom Institute handles international distribution of K-Popper, while Shahr Farang manages domestic distribution. The cast includes Sareh Bayat, Setayesh Dehghan, Mehdi Hashemi, Ali Bagheri, and—introducing—Hossein Raameh and young actor Mahoor Sadegh Ali.
