The documentary “Two Sisters”, produced by Yaser Talebi and Setareh Zare, and directed by Farhbaksh Farhidnia, has been awarded the Co-Production Prize from Al Jazeera Documentary Network at the International Tokyo Docs 2025 event. This accolade represents the festival's highest honor and was selected from 20 documentary projects from around the world.
Two Sisters tells a family and environmental story set in the mountains of northern Iran, where two elderly sisters resist the destruction of their ancestral home and land.
According to the Iranian Center for Documentary, Experimental and Animated Cinema, the project is in its final production stage, supported by international networks including Al Jazeera Documentary and NHK Japan, in collaboration with Meritis Film of Sweden, and is heading toward global distribution.
Tokyo Docs 2025 took place from November 4 to 7, in Tokyo, hosting 20 projects from countries including Japan, India, Iran, China, and South Korea.
