The Iranian feature film “It Was Winter”, directed by Vahid Pershad and produced by Kambiz Babaei and Bahman Kamyar, has garnered multiple international awards at festivals in India and Greece.
At the Indian Movie Awards on October 15, 2025, Nazanin Bayati received Best Actress for her performance, while the film itself won Best Foreign Language Feature. At the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival on October 7, 2025, the film won the Best Feature Film award.
Previously, It Was Winter won the Best Foreign Film award at the Chicago International Film Festival and competed in the main competition at the Golden Bridge Festival in Istanbul. This debut feature stars Nazanin Bayati, Elham Korda, Mohammad Amin, Reza Kianian, and Sharmeen Alimohammadi.
The film’s story reflects on longing and melancholy: “I wish all our stories ended well, beautifully. Not like Friday—gloomy and bitter. Today felt like a Friday evening, as if it were winter…”
