Iranian Filmmakers Shine at Barcelona Asian Film Festival

12 Iranian films and 2 Iranian jury members have participated in the 13th edition of the festival, showcasing the country’s cinematic diversity.

The 13th Barcelona Asian Film Festival in Spain, held from October 29 to November 9, 2025, has featured 12 films by Iranian filmmakers, with two Iranian jury members.

In the Official Competition, the festival screened:

"Me, Maryam, the Children, and 26 Others" by Farshad Hashemi (Iran/Germany/Czech Republic)

"Witness" by Nader Saei Var (Iran/Germany/Austria)

Other sections included:

Official Panorama: "Three Days and Three Killers and Summer That Year" by Mahmoud Kalari

Discoveries: "6 A.M." by Mehran Modiri, "Cold Sigh" by Nahid Azizi Sediq, "In the Embrace of the Tree" by Babak Khajeh-Pasha

NETPAC Section: "From Love" by Amir Hossein Saqqafi and "Root Canal" by Samira Eskandarfar

Special Section: "Fear and Trembling" by Manijeh Hekmat & Faezeh Zizkhani, and documentaries "I’m Growing Up Too" by Atiyeh Zare Arandi (Iran/Belgium) and "Tehran: An Unfinished History" by Saeed Nouri

Jury representation from Iran included Saeed Nouri in the Panorama section and Mana Salehi in the NETPAC section.

This extensive Iranian participation highlights the country’s vibrant contemporary cinema and its growing presence on the international festival stage.
