The mid-length film Alone in Tehran, directed by Amin Sahraei, has been selected as Iran’s representative at the Oscar-qualifying 34th Whitaker International Film Festival. The film will be entered into the festival’s main competition and is also nominated for its top awards.
Set in a layered and contemporary Tehran, the story unfolds as a tense psychological thriller. Sahraei not only directs but also stars in the film, alongside Ilia Sanai and several emerging actors.
The festival runs from November 6 to 16, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, and serves as one of the few gateways worldwide for automatic Oscar eligibility for winners in its competitive section.
