“Count to 10” Heads to China

Farid Valizadeh’s film “Count to 10” reaches the quarterfinals of the Tianjin International Academic Film Festival.

 

Farid Valizadeh’s Count to 10 has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2nd Tianjin International Academic Film Festival (TIAFF) in China, selected from submissions across 66 countries.TIAFF promotes international peace and meaningful cultural exchange, with Tianjin celebrated as a historic hub for global connections and a symbol of friendly cultural integration.

This marks the latest international screening for Count to 10, following its participation in the Route 66 Festival (USA), Lift-Off (UK), Cannes World Film Festival (France), Playback International Film Festival (Manchester), and the Benelux International Film Festival.

The film, first shown in 2021 under Iran’s Honar o Tajrobe program, explores a few intense hours in the lives of a couple with a significant age difference. They enter a marathon-like challenge, counting to ten, where the losing partner must fulfill the winner’s condition, whatever it may be.

Starring Manouchehr Zendehdel and Ghazal Nazar, the film is written by Kianoush Eslami and produced, directed, and designed by Farid Valizadeh. Cinematography is by Hossein Gholipour, sound by Masoud Hamidian, production design and costume by Ghasem Morabi, editing and technical direction by Saadat Bastam, and music by Shahab Akbari. Tabassom Nemati serves as co-producer.

International distribution is handled by Foujan Film. The semifinal and final results will be announced on November 22, 2025.
